Mitchellville Library
Mission Statement: The mission of the Mitchellville Elementary School library program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information; students are empowered to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.
Staff: Our library is staffed by a teacher librarian and a library clerk who are shared with two other schools in the Southeast Polk School District.

Teacher Librarian
Amy Drake is an ALA accredited Teacher Librarian with an MLS from the University of Iowa. She was a classroom teacher at the secondary level for 16 years where she taught English Language Arts before making the change to teacher librarian. She holds a Master's Degree in TESOL and also a K-12 Administration Degree. Clerk

About Us: The Southeast Polk library program purpose is to provide students and staff access to the information, resources and tools needed for academic learning and personal growth. The library program provides this through the physical collection, online resources and technology tools. The teacher librarian collaborates with other teachers to provide instruction and practice in using the skills, strategies, processes and tools needed for learning in the 21st century.
